I am on a F1 opt status (stem). i had applied for an asylum 6 months ago. i have not been called for an interview yet. However I am now eligible for "work permit" through the asylum. Should i apply for "work permit" through asylum or extend my F1 opt statues (can be extended for another 17 months ) ? My concern is what if i apply the "work permit" through asylum and my asylum gets denied ? Will i be back on my F1 status ? Suggestions will be much appreciated .
