I'm a huge fan of the tragedienne of Bollywood -- Meena Kumari. I absolutely adored her in Pakeezah and Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam. That trembling voice that carried both sorrow and seduction, wow, only Meena Kumari could do it!

Mausam -- with my no. 1 favorite star Sanjeev Kumar, the gifted Gulzar, and the evergreen Madan Mohan -- has some of the most beautiful songs ever made. The movie is an absolute winner. I've seen it several times and each time I'm choked to see Sanjeev Kumar's unparalleled performance. What an actor!

John, that song "teri zulf khul ke bikhar jaye to acchha" reminded me of another song from the same movie "Kaajal" ...sung by the maestro Manna Dey in the classical tradition.
