The long golden era of Indian music not only produced a rich treasure of other-worldly gems, but also some down-to-earth gems. The above song from the movie, Sharmili, is one.

Barring from the little pessimistic tone at the opening stanza, the song has an amazingly down-to-earth yet uplifting message for celebrating life as it happens. This is my personal anthem.

Nepe, yes i know that song very well. it's a beautiful one. written by the poet Niraj. if you liked his lyrics you should check out his other songs too....for example,

i love the poet's analogy between love and elements of nature like badal bijli chandan pani ... they convey such purity which is again, very other-worldly!

you can actually see those videos on youtube posted by someone with nick bellztoll ... this person has most of my fave dev anand songs ... if you are a dev anand fan like myself you should check out his songs from tere ghar ke samne too ..esp. the song sun le tu dil ki sada pyar se pyar saja ...

if you are a hopeless romantic like myself you will love this song from asli naqli (one of dev anand's gems) that goes like this ....

ik buth banaunga teri aur puja karunga
arey mar jaoonga pyar agar main duja karunga

watch out for the fantastic musical score by SD Burman ... i feel like dancing with abandon at the tun of this particular song! :-)
