don't go there, it's damn expensive but no good apartments especially in private houses. avoid jackson heights.

Elixir and others, thank you for your responses. Elixir you seem to have the knowledge of the area, could you reccomend any better place in New York city area. the reason i am tryng to jackson Heights is that it is very close to alll sorts of public transportation and most of all i can get to buy our traditional foods and wooo calling cards. Looking forward to hear from you guys thanks

Jackson heights is not that bad neiborhood, though the crowd and the sea of bay carriages can get into your nerve sometime. These Bangladeshi and Indian procreate like rabbits..they can churn out babies faster then finishing plate of chicken tikka masala !! But if you move out of the 73rd to 80 st areave and move deeper in you';; find it very clean and quite. Actually the area is a historic area and has been put on list of national haritage.
