As you own old car you need to keep regular maintenance frequently.
Repair cost depends on where you bring it to fix. If you bring it to dealer, it will be above our normal repair budget. In long run you need to give more time to your car and may hamper your work time. I have posted my experiences on owning used car and some how simple repair beacons my hobby.
My suggestion : better buy new RAV4 or CRV or Venza than an used 10 years old BMW.
On BMW and VW Even to change spark plugs you have to bring it to a mechanic, I mean how complicated they are. My manager's spouse is an auto engineer , on VW to change an air blower has to take whole dashboard. BMW , VW and Audi comes from the same factory.
If you're buying a BMW better pay & get vin check, I mean do not be penny wise pound foolish.
